More Like Linda

Being human we have great capability.  And being human we are limited.  With the passing of MIchael's sister Linda this last Sunday, we purged our calendars of everything we could in order to redirect our lives back to family and the trip do Denton.

We cannot do everything.  Our computers make us feel like we should be able to do every job we need to have done, to be every profession needed in our world, to be a friend to every person we've ever met.  But times like these remind us we are limited.

I'm so very thankful that we spent time with Linda and our extended Mordecai family over this last Labor Day weekend.  We almost decided not to go in order to stay here and work at tasks needing to get done, to be busy in a myriad of ways in a crazy fast-paced world of stuff we think is actually important.  But we did go and we got to see her smile, enjoy the sound of her slightly raspy, Texas voice tell her stories about her travels, her children and her grand-children.  We got to laugh with her and take photographs of her surrounded by family.

I am so very thankful for this reminder of what is really important.

We are limited.  So I re-commit to my goal I made at the beginning of the year.  "Do less so that what I do means more".  More like Linda did.
